We stayed at the Best Western Plus Ruby’s Inn, Bryce Canyon. The place was a nice motel, with an adjacent restaurant with a huge buffet.
Bryce Canyon was spectacular. Once again, I made a point of getting there on time for the sunset. Bryce Canyon is big, but not as big as Mesa Verde. It takes about 1/2 hour to get from the hotel to Rainbow Point, which is the furthest point you can drive to, that overlooks the canyon.
The predominant features of the canyon are the hoodoos. They are amazing and are especially beautiful at sunrise. I highly recommend dressing very warmly. We were there on April 29, and when I got there at about 5:30 AM, it was very cold, and snowing! This was a vivid reminder that we were at 9,000 feet elevation.
The Queen’s Garden Trail

I also recommend the 1/2 hour hike down to The Queen’s Garden. This affords a good perspective of the canyon. Even when you’re there, it’s hard to grasp the scale. For example, these people can barely be seen in an overview photo of the cliff wall.
