At Patriot’s Point, In Charleston, SC, I visited the unique Cold War Submarine Memorial, which is the hull of a submarine half-buried in the grass, making it look like it is starting to dive.

Then to the USS Yorktown (aircraft carrier) the USS Clamagore (submarine), and the USS Laffey (destroyer), which are all docked together.  There are lots of cool planes on display there.

I was the only person touring the Laffey, so I got a personal tour by a sailor who served on a similar destroyer.  It’s amazing what our servicemen endured to fight off Imperial Japan.

I also saw the South Carolina Aquarium from the outside, but didn’t have time to go inside.  The Fort Sumter Visitors Center is right next to the aquarium.  Fort Sumter is where the American Civil War started.  I didn’t get to the fort itself, but photographed it from the distance.
