One of the must-see towns for any American Architect is Oak Park, Illinois, just outside of Chicago.  It’s where Frank Lloyd Wright lived, and started his career.  His second employer was Louis Sullivan of Adler and Sullivan.  This is significant because he designed one of my favorite buildings in Chicago (more about that later).

I started my visit at the Frank Lloyd Wright Studio (map link) , and took the tour of the house.   Then I walked a few blocks to the South to Unity Temple, his second major, non-residential project, but the oldest one still standing.   On the way, I passed several of his early  houses in Oak Park.  Including the Frank W. Thomas House, which is considered his first Prairie Style house.
