The next stop after Toledo, was the Henry Ford Museum near Detroit, Michigan. This museum is worth the time and effort. It’s not just about cars, but also about advancements in technology, and especially regarding manufacturing technology. Which is appropriate since Ford was a pioneer in assembly line manufacturing.
For an extra fee, the admission included a tour of the Ford Rouge Assembly plant, where the assemble the F-150 pick-up truck, which is the most popular vehicle sold in America. Unfortunately, no photos were permitted of the assembly floor, but it was really a thing to behold, with trucks moving on the assembly line below and suspended overhead.
I do have one photo of the roof of the assembly plant, which is a “green” roof, meaning that it is covered with vegetation, which reduces run-off, and filters the water that does run off. In the Fall, the foliage turns red, so it looks red, not green.
